The area

North East Manchester is a vibrant area with a young and diverse population proud of where they live. Its proximity to the vibrant and growing city centre, with the opportunity it represents, is something all North Manchester residents should be able to benefit from.

The area also faces significant challenges because it has some of the highest rates of health, income and employment deprivation anywhere in the country.

The effects of this deprivation are significant, leading to high rates of poverty, low rates of school-readiness, low numbers of children achieving expected education outcomes, and high numbers of adults out of work and with few qualifications.

Health outcomes are particularly poor and are exacerbated by poor living conditions within low-quality private-rented accommodation. Although vibrant and diverse, the voluntary and community sector is not as well developed as in other parts of the city.

However, North East Manchester is embarking on a potentially transformational period of major investment, with a total value of over £4.5billion during 2022 - 2035. The significance of this investment pipeline and the opportunity it presents for the area cannot be overstated.

A North Manchester Social Benefits Framework has been developed

to ensure that local people, community organisations and

businesses can take maximum advantage of these opportunities.

The North Manchester Business Network supports the framework.
