What's My Job?
What's My Job is a careers aspiration programme for primary schools to help pupils aged 9 – 10 challenge how they may think about the world of work and their future in it. It is fun, interesting and rewarding and really easy to take part –no preparation needed, just turn up at a school, meet the other volunteers and then spend an hour answering pupil’s questions to guess your job.
How it works
Each group of children will visit the volunteers and have a few minutes to ask questions to help them determine what each person does for work. To support the activity, each volunteer will bring a prop of their choice to provide clues and spark discussion if the children are struggling. By the end of the session, all children will have met each volunteer and completed an answer sheet showcasing a variety of different careers. The session will conclude with each volunteer revealing their job title and providing a brief overview of their role and day-to-day responsibilities.
